Unlock VAG SFD with VXDIAG and ODIS Service

As of 2020, VAG applied the SFD procedure in order to provide Vehicle Diagnostic Protection. Security Access protection system is used on 2020+ VW Golf VIII, Audi A3 8Y, Skoda Octavia A8, Seat Leon MK4 and others. Here we will show how to unlock VAG SFD gateway with our VXDIAG VCX SE 6154 and ODIS service software without login account.

Both ODIS S v11 and ODIS V23 work fine.

How to Unlock VAG SFD with ODIS Service Manually?

In a diagnostic start-up via “Self-diagnosis”, after selecting a control unit (i.e C002 Software Cluster unit) you can establish whether the control unit is SFD-protected using the “Display measured values” function

Select Manual SFD activation

If an activation token has not yet been generated, answer “No” to the following question:

Copy the original SFD IT backend code to clipboard

Visit https://vaglogins.com. Register and buy tokens.

It appears to generate one-time SFD unlock tokens for this exact scenario. They operate on a “credits” system, but you can buy 25 credits for 25€, (about $27) and 5 credits gets you an SFD challenge response for one module, whereas 15 credits gets you unlimited offline challenges for 60 minutes for a specific VIN.

First enter VIN to activate VIN number

Paste original SFD code here.

Select brand and diagnostic address, here C002 for example

Then request SFD.

It take up to 30 seconds to generate this code so just be patient.

Copy the SFD calculation to clipboard.

Paste this code from clipboard on ODIS software.

Press Activate Control Unit to unlock SFD security gateway.

SM2 Pro vs VXDIAG VCX SE vs VAS5054A for Xentry Passthru

VXDIAG VCX SE, Scanmatik 2 Pro and VAS 5054a all tested working with the Mercedes Benz Xentry Passthru version.

How is the communication speed? Which is better?

One of the customers has tested all these passthru devices.

“I conducted a test in Passthru mode (XPT 12.2023) on a table (without a car, just supplied +12 volts) with the same VIN number.

 

The test included

VAS 5054A – test time 7 minutes 16 seconds.

Scanmatik 2 Pro – test time 5 minutes 40 seconds.

VXDIAG VCX SE Benz – 3 minutes 7 seconds.

 

Beware that it requires a different Xentry installation. Passthrough does not work with older cars.   Xentry Openshell installation will not work with SM2 pro and VAS 5054A.

 

VCX SE communication speed is as it should be which is great.   You can also open another brand license.  There are additional fees for each vehicle model.

 

I have had a VCX SE for a while, using it with DTS 8 and 9, as well as Xentry PassThru and OpenShell (separate installs). It works really well and is fast. If you switch between PassThru and OpenShell, you need to switch the interface of the device (in the supplied VCX Manager), but other than that, it’s been flawless on my end. I suggest just using it with the wired USB connection, if possible. “

VXDIAG VCX SE BMW Works with ISTA+ 4.48.20

Does VXDIAG VCX SE BMW interface work with BMW ISTA+ 4.48.20 software?

Our engineer tested it and verified VCX SE works fine with ISTA 4.48 software.

Keep firmware and license up to date.

This version does not need the latest driver support.

Make sure you have BMW ICOM driver installed.

If failed to update firmware or license, uninstall BMW driver and reinstall again.

If test BMW on bench, make sure you have a battery maintainer.

Set up VXDIAG Ford and FDRS for 2024 Maverick

Here comes the user review of vxdiag vcx nano Ford and FDRS on a 2024 Ford Maverick.

“FDRS is the software Ford Dealerships use for Programming and Diagnosis on all Fords (specifically 2018+). I am using the VXDIAG VCX NANO FORD OBD2 adapter. It is $89 on vxdiagshop.com. You must install VX MANAGER to install the driver for this OBD2 ADAPTER so it works for FDRS.   The driver for FDRS is in the download for the VX manager. I tried to download the VX manager beta and it would not let me because antivirus was kicking in but it let me install the latest release non beta. It’s working fine for me I followed the instructions.

I also bought a 2 day FDRS/IDS subscription for $50 from www.motorcraftservice.com . If I use FDRS again in the future I will have to purchase another 2 day license. You must have internet connection to use FDRS (at least for the first time). Low voltage can disrupt processes so you have to make sure you aren’t dropping below 12V at the bottom right. A trickle charger is recommended.

Here are some pictures I took of some of the toolbox options FDRS shows in the PCM, BCM, BECMB, AWD on my 2024 Maverick. This is pretty cool to see what can be done with FDRS and to see what the dealership technicians are seeing. Most processes are very easy to accomplish because of the detailed step by step instructions provided in the software. It was very easy to add the wireless keypad through FDRS!  It can also be used to upgrade any of the module firmware.  If there is a recall that is fixed by new firmware, Ford will do the upgrade for free. If there is a major bug that does not cause a safety issue then Ford may upgrade the firmware for free. But if there is a feature enhancement or minor bug fix, Ford will allow the dealers to do an upgrade but they will charge the customer. ”

 

VXDIAG BMW Firmware Update License Failed Solution

Problem:

ISTA+ 4.39 did not detect the VXDIAG VCX SE BMW VCI device.  Try to update firmware in vx manager and try again. It says update license failed, error 4001. Any solution?

Solution:

Go to Diagnostic tab, uninstall and reinstall BMW ICOM driver.

Then update firmware and license in vx manager again.
