Recently some vxdiag vcx nano gm gds2 users reported that they have problems accessing new GM SPS2 programming via Techline Connect. There is no official solution yet. Here’s a little walkthrough shared by one of vxdiagshop.com’s customers. Hope it helps. Keep updating if we get a working solution.
The problem goes like this:
A while back I purchased the VCX Nano gm and never was able to get it work. Well, I had a need and spent a great deal of time with it and have it partly working and can get GDS2 loaded and communicating with the vehicle. Using VX Manager, I have updated the firmware of the Nano, updated license, etc. If I run GDS2 through VX Manager, I get no valid lease found. If I run it from the round GDS 2 icon, it seems to work with 8835 days until the lease expires.
I found that one must run from the round icon to get GDS2 loaded and communicate with the vehicle.
The purpose of my inquiry is regarding programming modules.
This is what I am trying to accomplish:
https://www.vxdiagshop.com/service/chevy-volt-hpcm-programming-with-vxdiag-sps.html
I have created an account on the ACDelco website, bought the $40 subscription but when I click Add VIN, it seems to want to load Techline Connect, but if I load it, I lose access to the car.
If reload GDS and do the autoinstall, I can get it to work again and then I tried going to the ACDelco side to “Add VIN” per the instructions, it tries to run something TechLine but always fails.
At the bottom, in small-ish print:
“Error occured, unable to start Techline Connect. Please try restarting computer.”
This is the same message that I’ve received all along. Is there any assistance you can offer?
Customer solution:
Okay, programming completed.
“I installed the new SSD in an unused laptop, installed Windows 10 Pro, activated it and did my basic setup to it.
These were the steps that I had followed:
A) Run the AutoInstall – let it install everything it wanted
B) Installed the Drivers
C) Plugged the VCX Nano GM into the laptop
D) Installed the VX Manager –
Renews the license
I did not check the Nano firmware because I had already updated it the day before
Under diagnostic, installed and updated the PASSTHRU
Under diagnostic, installed and updated GM GDS2
E) Went to ACDelcoTDS, logged in, clicked Add VIN, downloaded and installed Techline Connect.
F) Rebooted
G) Loaded the VX Manager – I do not know whether this was necessary
G) Went back to ACDelcoTDS, logged in, clicked Add VIN and clicked through to open Techline Connect.
H) Plugged adapter into car and clicked Connect. It was using the Passthrough adapter setting.
I) Found the module, clicked update, was prompted to add VIN to the system and use one of my slots and then it programmed.
J) Cleared codes.
K) Turned on car and saw READY. Done!
I started downloading the software at 11:00 and was finished cleaned up by 12:15.
I have not tested GDS but I suspect it will work. I have not tried Tech2Win but I think the odds are good.
Anyhow, those were the steps I followed. I suspect there was some anomonly on the other machines. Meanwhile, this laptop will be reserved predominately for diagnostic purposes.”
Take care, be safe and thank you for your interest in this problem.
You need a Windows 10 Pro computer with 8+ GB of RAM and at least 100 GB of free disk space. Change a laptop Win10 Pro or install a new SSD, then try again.

Question: How to choose an affordable Honda diagnostic scanner then you can easily and quickly determine the cause of the check engine light in my car? I am considering vxdiag and the HIM clone with double-board?
Comparison and Suggestion:
Affected VXDIAG HDS Scanners:
VXDIAG VCX SE Pro with optional 3 car software incl. HDS
VXDIAG VCX SE Full with HDS license
VXDIAG VCX DoIP full with HDS license
VXDIAG VCX Plus FORD MAZDA HONDA JLR 4 in 1
VXDIAG VCX Plus TOYOTA HONDA Land Rover Jaguar 3 in 1
Operating system:
HDS for HIM better loaded on Win7, some tested Win10 success well
VXDIAG HDS Win7 Win8 Win10 all testing working no issue
Software
VXDIAG Honda latest software comes to V3.103.048, multi-language, Free software updates
Software including
HIM currently use HDS software version V3.103.066,, multi-language , Free software updates
HIM HDS does not contain i-HDS and J2534 Rewite program.
i-HDS is used for newer >2017 and more. so VXDIAG will work on both new and old Honda.
HDS can’t access new Honda IMMO anymore. You will need i-HDS installed.
The J2534 Rewrite software is meant for the North American market. The Rewrite software allows to update powertrain models such as PCM and TCM.
A subscription to the i-HDS and J2534 pass-thru device (i.e vxdiag) can access more functions
Function:
they perform same functions, full system diagnostic, live data, Special functions – changing of permissible settings of blocks, programming etc.
VXDIAG HDS can do ECU reprogramming and IMMO key programming with i-HDS subscription.
Suggestion:
If you are a DIYer or a Honda car owner, surely HIM clone is your choice. The biggest advantage of vxdiag HDS is that you are allowed to add multi-brand software into one single device, Benz xentry, BMW ISTA, Toyota TIS, JLR SDD, GM GDS2/T2W, Subaru SSM. VXDIAG HDS is your best choice if you are a professional technician.

I got the vxdiag vcx se with 2TB Hard drive a week ago. 2TB hard drive works fine on my second-hand Lenovo laptop off ebay.
2tb hdd refused to work yesterday. I contact vxdiagshop.com where i bought the device. They have checked the vcx se device, vx manager and hard drive for me via Teamviewer.
All without problem. They said the problem might be the laptop which reminds me it is old enough.
Finally i got it working again.
I have done this. The RAM chip does not function. They are corroded and no longer good
I replaced the chips with new chips. It boots normally now I will continue testing.
Recommendation:
VXDIAG VCX NANO JLR SDD is compatible with WIN7 8 10, sometimes you run SDD with win10 and will get error “The application has failed to start”, then please follow this article to solve.
Step 1. free download necessary programs from the below link:
https://mega.nz/folder/6jBQwLjS#s51J38OxUufw_7p6wpAbNw
File including:
1).DefenderControl
2). JLR Psonic Script Setup WIN10
3). MSVBcrtAio_v20190720.zip
Step 2.Unzip “DefenderControl” from the desktop.
Right click on “DefenderControl” and select “Run as administrator”.
Click on “Disable Windows Defender”.
Step 3. Run ” MSVBcrtAio_v20190720″
Choose “X64” or “X86” according to your computer bit.
Then click on “Next” and then “Next”.
Step 4. Open JLR Psonic Script-Setup WIN10 – V2 to run ” PanasonicScript-Setup.exe”.
Again, open ” PanasonicScript-Setup.exe” and get message “Error occurred updating registry keys. System. ArgumentException: No value exits with that name. “, just click on “Ok”, do not care it.
Alright, you can open JLR SDD software for VXDIAG NANO now.
GM has replaced the SPS (Service Programming System) for the SPS2. They came out with the software called Techline Connect. It is an all-in-one system. It has the GDS2 and SPS together.
New interface looks pretty decent and more modernized. So does the vxdiag vcx nano GM support the new Techline Connect SPS2?
Yes. Vxdiag engineer has confirmed it works.
Select the device type as MDI2 instead of VXDIAG when it ask to select a Passthru J2534 device.
If select the device as VXDIAG, SPS2 may crash.
If select as MDI, it will not recognize the device.
If still have problems after selecting MDI2, leave your device serial number and contact via to solve via Teamviewer.
