Program 2014 Land Cruiser TPMS with VXDIAG VCX NANO

Problem:

TPMS question on 2014 LC.

I leave my winter tires on my stock wheels with stock TPMS sensors. I purchased the Carista reader and pulled the stock TPMS codes, all 7 digit codes.

I bought a set of Tundra Wheels that came with new TPMS sensors and had my AT tires mounted and had the foresight to right down the codes. However they are all 8 digit codes.  I was hoping Tech Stream or another program could get the 8 digit code entered.

Am I out of luck with getting an 8 digit TPMS sensor programmed to my LC?

Worst case, I will pull the tires, pop a bead and install new TPMS sensors but was hoping to avoid that.

Answer to ” I bought a set of Tundra Wheels that came with new TPMS sensors…”

Tundra uses different TPMS sensors, so they won’t work. I believe they are 325hertz vs 315. You can get programmable ones to “clone” the stock ones you have, or buy another set of 200 compatible sensors and program those.

I had some of the same issues and ended up going to Discount Tire where I have purchased tires for years. They were able to knock it out in 5 mins, after I tried for hours on Carista. they had an extra digit. I don’t think they were the same ones you have but not sure what the difference would have been.

These are the ones I bought:

One more question: Is Mini VCI the current best link to purchase TechStream? any replacement?

I’ve used Mini VCI J2534 OBD2 scanner for Toyota /Lexus and other automotive software for years on MacBook pros in a virtual machine running windows (or in bootcamp). I had a cheap version of the cable for a while but it didn’t let me do things like change TPMS sensor values. I have a VXDiag cable now and it works great.

This one is what I have.

I also have a mini vci cable, but found it limited in what I could do. I haven’t used it once since I got the VXDiag vcx nano version. I had purchased it directly from the VXDIAG website last year because it wasn’t available on Amazon at the time.

I purchased the VXDIAG VCX Nano with Techstream V15.00.026 for $70. It works great. I had a spare copy & license of Windows 7 laying around that I wasn’t using, so I installed it on a virtual machine (using Virtual Box). It all worked without a hiccup. Going through screens in Techstream is pretty quick, too, especially compared to what people describe in all the other threads that use the older non-Nano cables.

After I got it all set up, I noticed that VXDIAG also offers a VMWare Player image, but I haven’t tried it out.

Here are some applicable links from their website that were helpful, but weren’t obvious at first:

VMWare Player image, and
VX Manager download (the driver that allows the USB device to be identified and work):

Installation instructions:

The USB-only version (this is what I got):

They also have a VXDIAG Nano Toyota WIFI version, but that seems like security problem in my opinion, making my laptop connect to the device WIFI. You can find it on their website if you’re interested in it.

Hope it helps!

VXDIAG VCX NANO Review on Isuzu 4jx1

April 30, 2021:

Just wondering if anyone has used the VXDIAG VCX NANO for GM/OPEL GDS2 Tech2WIN Diagnostic Tool on the Jackaroo 4xj1. From what I have heard it works with the 4jx1.

May 12 2021:

it arrived today but unable to get the tech2win to pull the data from the vcx nano.

Everything seems configured correctly however the only 4JX1 option i can find is under Opel – Monterey but says no communications with the vehicle.
I however see in the VXManager that the OBD2 is connected and its reading my car’s voltage.

May 13, 2021

Reinstalled following these instructions: http://www.vxdiagshop.com/service/how-to-install-vxdiag-vcx-nano-gm-tech2win-on-windows-10-6027.html

set it up ok on Windows 10.

and now its communicating with the engine. Using the opel bin you choose 1998 > Monterey > 4JX1.

Fun fun.

June 16, 2021:

I have been using this to check display data for a few weeks now. I was wondered if the injectors were enabled. Well it turns out that the GM>1999>Monterey>4jx1 3.0 (v6 engine is only other option) does not have the same parameters or the .bin file that is in question is outdated. It has oil rail pressure, crank , orpcv and more totaling to 43 parameters. No injector status though.

My mate has got the injector status on his program. I am looking for a .bin file of the isuzu Kline card .

June 25, 2021.:

I got the bin file of Isuzu Kline somewhere.  (attached below)

This is vastly different. I have injector status now.

Options entering the tech2 look more on par with screenshots I’ve seen online.

This is a cheap tech2 alternative now.

Here’s tip:

I open VX Manager, i use the reconnect and test device buttons to ensure its running and operating. I then plug it into the vehicle Obd2 port and proceed to open software shortcut: tech2win on the desktop.

You are able to select from a few different bin files.  Such as China1 China2 North-America and so on.

vxdiag-tech2win-isuzu-jackaroo-4xj1

Follow this way to get new bin listed:

Open the Tech2Win-Configurator, click ‘Create new…’. Enter a new name under ‘Please enter a new name’. Press ‘Copy’. Under ‘Slot 0: Memory card image location’ find the path to the downloaded BIN file. Click ‘Open’. Press ‘Save ###’.

When you next start the program your new configuration will be available to choose.

You get a popup prompt with two entries, i press enter to select the default option, then another popup which lists the usb device (another enter).

Change the computer date/time to the same month as your SSM4 V22.6.0.exe latest time modified

For example: The SSM4.exe last date modified is 6/9/2020, you can change any day in June 2020.

How to Install VXDIAG JLR SDD on Win10 32bit and 64bit?

The vxdiag vcx nano JLR SDD V159 works fine on Windows 7 32bit. I got it to run on Windows 10 Professional 64 bit but the VX Manager driver doesn’t support Win10 64bit. So  I tried using it on a new Windows 10 32bit version and am getting an error about the side by side configuration is incorrect.   Both in administrator mode.
Has anyone gotten SDD to work on Windows 10 32 bit or 64bit?
Solution for Win10 32bit:
The side by side error is caused by the VisualC++ installation missing or not properly installed, this happens when installing older application on Windows 10. I found on the internet a complete VisualC+ install with all the versions used that and all worked OK.
Win10 64bit:
It works with Windows 10 64bit system.
Works great with Land Rover SDD. It comes with 2 install disks. But I went to the manufacturers website on the box to download the software because my computer doesn’t have a CD drive. THIS WORKS WITH 64BIT WINDOWS 10!!! Windows 10 has a comparability mode allowing it to work with this scanner and software.
