VXDIAG VCX NANO Toyota Techstream V16 Win10 Review 1

I put win10 32bit in an old HP computer and reused it as a diagnostic machine.

Along with that, the new GTS machine-vxdiag vcx nano toyota scan tool is purchased. I prefer software v16.
Thank you to those who have developed it.

VXDIAG VCX NANO GDS2 Cadillac CTS 2011 Honest Review

I have the wired vxdiag vcx nano gm interface from vxdiagshop.com. It comes with a USB plug, GDS2, Tech2Win, and a license but needs to be renewed using VXManager periodically (60 days).

VXDIAG VCX NANO GDS2 Cadillac CTS 2011

The GDS crack may be out of date but certainly miles better than those cheap Bluetooth scanners.

Great for bi-directional commands. It works the ABS pumps on a '96 Corvette (first year of OBD2) and a '03 Z06. But it won't work on a C5 corvette and 4th gen camaro for ABS and airbag. As I was told it is better for newer vehicles. It works fine on my notebook for my 2011 Cadillac CTS though.

The sequence you have to go through for it to start is interesting. Open the VXManager first and make sure the dongle is found. Then open the Tech2Win via the configurator so must select "North America" first. If not are liable to get the menu with just F0 and F1.

Just had a surprise with my NANO. Said "license has expired". Had to go to VXDIAG, download latest VX Manager, Firmware Upgrade, then Upgrade License.

Licenses say "2030" so that is good but at top it talks about 60 days.

So I tried the VXDIAG VCX NANO GDS2, and seemed to have got the cracked software installed after disabling anti-virus or it will go nuts. I can connect to the 2011 CTS, it is been able to get it to show me useful DTC history.

You must load the software components in the right order. But first go to VXDIAG.NET and

Download VX Manager

  1. Please download latest vx manager .
  2. After download, please install the new vx manager.
Update the Firmware

  1. Then connect device to laptop, laptop connecting network.
  2. Open new vx manager, click "Firmware" to update
Update the License

  1. Click "Update license" to renew on the vx manager.

then

  • Install the VM software (i prefer load it on VM)
  • Install the VX software (the VX software is for the diagnostic connector that connects to the car, and takes the place of GM's MDI)
  • Use the Tech2 Win auto-install
  • Install the GM MDI Manager

Important
Before you open Tech2Win, you must first open and run the VX Manger software and connect the vehicle connector (blue thing) to the USB, so the VX manager recognizes it.

I have not had to use it for pass through programming, but from what I've seen it is supposed to be able to pull firmware from acdelcotds and flash to the various modules in the vehicle.
If nothing else, it is really nice to be able to view more than just the standard pcm data that regular odb2 scanners do. For example, my traction control keeps encountering errors, this lets me know the problen is somewhere in the driver side front wheel speed sensor signal. On my CTS it let me know my traction control random errors were coming from a bad steering wheel position sensor.

How to Set up VXDIAG VCX NANO Ford with RDT Software?

Confirmed! vxdiag vcx nano ford and vcx se j2534 passthru devices are tested working with free RDT software. Works perfectly though.

What’s RDT software?
The ROUSH Diagnostic Tool (RDT) is a free desktop application available from ROUSH CleanTech that may be used for PCM calibration updates as well as diagnostics. The tool features data logging capabilities as well as DTC read/clear and KOEO/KOER functions.

Using Google Chrome, the software is downloaded to a laptop by following this link to register: http://rdt.roush.com/RoushRdt/. Each laptop will require a new download of the software.

How to set up VXDIAG VCX NANO Ford with RDT software?

The VXDIAG VCX Nano seems to work great with RDT and Ford IDS.

Helpful links:

The instructions that came with the VXDIAG VCX Nano Ford IDS to be the easiest to follow:

You can use the Mouse Jiggler app (Zen enabled) to stop your laptop from hibernating and you’ll be running an ethernet cable out to the garage for the flash.

*Vxdiagshop.com does not provide RDT software nor technical support for it.

Program Chevy Volt 2012 HPCM2 by VXDIAG & Techline Connect

This is a Chevy Volt year 2021. It pops up here Service High Voltage Charging System error. I clear it with GDS2 before but it is not working anymore as I had that caveat before that sometimes it doesn't always work.

Program Chevy Volt 2012 HPCM2 by VXDIAG & Techline Connect 1

I got to reprogram the hpcm2 module. I've already done the BCM update.

These documents help a lot:

How to Set up VXDIAG VCX NANO GM with Techline Connect?

Using Techline Connect and a VXDIAG VCX Nano GM interface to fix Chevy Volt Service High Voltage Charging System Error:

I am going to put the car in service mode.  so i'm going to do that is foot not on the brake. i do have my keys in my pocket.  i don't know if that makes a difference.

I'm just going to hold the power button for that long however long that was. i'll hold a button turn the radio down here it's not raining in my shop turn the wipers off.

I've logged into ACDelco tds.com subscriptions. I've done my login.  What i'm going to do is go ahead and click view here on subscriptions.  I use SPS2 and a 2 year subscription per VIN is $40. A really good deal IMO. This is probably a $200-300 service at a dealer. The VCX Nano is $119 and I want a subscription to the legit GM GDS2, but that's like $500 for 2 years.

It will bring up the vin, this is my vin.

I've already have techline connect installed and launch Techline Connect.

I have the vcx nano software installed. My sacrificial MacBook pro i have a windows partition on there because vxdiag software has the virus and may interfer with Techline Connect.

I've got my vcx nano plugged in to vehicle and connect with laptop via USB

You can see there's a red light for power.

You're used to dealing with it. It goes pretty smoothly.

Buick Bucking Problem Solved by VXDIAG VCX NANO GM

It's a 2003 Buick Century 3.1L bucking jumping when accelerating. No fault code.  This problem haunted me for half year. Not a single engine/tranny code in the entire process including history or pending code. After throwing tons of parts at it, I finally fixed it.

Tools:

  1. a PC-simulated GM Tech2 scanner (VXDiag VCX NANO GM from vxdiagshop.com) which has live data, misfire data, 2-way programming or sensor controls.
  2. Fuel pressure gauge.
Buick Bucking Problem Solved by VXDIAG VCX NANO GM

Observations:

  1. Car jump/buck/lunge forward while accelerating or climbing a hill. Worst at 2-3 gear.
  2. It appears to be engine problem, not transmission problem, because engine RPM drops from >2000rpm to <1000rpm like a "pause". The engine quickly picks up RPM and the car lunge forward.
  3. Misfire data show occasional misfire in random cylinder, but not bad enough to set any code. During the "pause" there is no massive misfire.
  4. Fuel pressure gauge shows normal ~50psi idle or under load — normal fuel system
  5. MAP starts at 30kpa idle. Opened throttle to increase and maintain rpm to 2800, MAP increase to 45kpa and quickly restores to 28kpa — good vacuum, no CAT restriction
  6. STFT and LTFT are within 5%

Parts thrown at it (without improvement):

  1. Cleaned throttle, IAC, EGR. Not dirty at all. Tech2 tool is able to control the valve to expected position.
  2. Fuel: replaced pump, filter, fuel pressure regulator, all fuel injectors (expensive!)
  3. Ignition: replaced spark plugs, wire, coil, ICM
  4. Sensors: replaced TPS, IAC, MAF, MAP, 3x Crankshaft Position Sensor (facing firewall) Some articles call it 7x CPS but Tech2 tool shows 3x CPS.

The Culprit:

  1. The wiring harness that connects 3x CPS to the ICM

It is a 2-wire cable, purple and yellow, with male plugs on both ends. After 18 years and 250000 miles, this cable deteriorated due to proximity to exhaust manifold. Outer sleeve disintegrated. A plastic retainer which plugs to a hole near thermostat is broken. The cable is now dangling near crossover exhaust pipe, and partially melted. From google search I learned the 3x CPS is "critical" and will halt ignition without setting any code. (The other 24x CPS behind harmonic balancer is non-critical)

The Replacement part:

  1. GM 15301408 or Dorman 645-514

I bought the Dorman. Dorman lists it as a "Knock sensor harness" but it is actually 3x CPS. It's a exact fit with the 2 plastic retainers (hoops) in the middle. I added a fiberglass sleeve around it for extra protection. The bucking problem is totally gone.

Many people had bucking problem without reaching a solution. I hope my story will help someone.
