I was told this one (the vxdiag vcx nano Ford J2534) works perfectly. People did all their updates and were very happy.
I used it with Ford FDRS tool and and 2-day non-dealer license.
For the tool itself, you will need to install the VX Manager that can be downloaded from here. Once you install it MAKE SURE you set it up as J2534 pass-through device, not as Fords VCMII! After that FDRS tool will recognize it just fine.
It worked perfectly. I have flashed all my modules with this set up, including the GWM, IPMA modules.
This device works, just need to really pay attention how you set it up.
Also (VERY IMPORTANT), make sure you have a solid battery charger/maintainer connected to your truck, the last thing you would want is the battery die on you while flashing your modules. This is especially true for IPMA module flashing which takes almost 3 hours to complete.
That being said there’s always one thing: the app developers were smart enough to know that I was using a VirtualBox VM (which to be honest could be easily cloned and added to other PCs). I wasn’t even mad; I was impressed. That being said a normal install of Win10 and just the driver package for the vcx nano got me where I needed to be.
The modules I updated today were all Key On; Engine Off. FDRS tells you how to manage the battery (including telling to attach to a battery tender).
For GWM, it should be the same procedure as APIM. Ignition OFF. Open driver door and close. DO NOT REMOVE THE FLASHDRIVE. Wait 10 minutes. Ignition ON. Wait couple of minutes until SYNC screen informs you that update was successfull. Remove the flash drive.
NOTE: The gateway module (GWM) must be at the latest software level before the APIM update can be performed.

Problem:
I got the VXDIAG VCX NANO Ford IDS v124.01 installed and when run “IDS” software on the desktop, it reported the error “IDS has detected an issue with the VCI software package on this PC. This may be because the version installed. ” (shown as image 1 – 2).
When I click ok, it takes me to the next step, it asks you to select VCI type, after selecting and press OK button (image 3), you will go to image 4 and stuck on this page.
Then, how to fix this problem? vxdiagshop.com engineer offers the working solution:
You have to run IDS software from “IDS patch”.
Free download new Ford Mazda IDS patch here:
It is enough to allow me to think that there is a chance of success after I swap out the ABS ECU with the one I ordered. You’ll need access to FJDS or IDS to finish the job. You can ask your dealer to do this, or you can purchase a license from Ford and do it yourself. If you decide to do it yourself, you’ll need a VXDIAG or VCM II adaptor.
I ordered the VXDIAG VCX NANO for Ford interface. I downloaded FJDS from motorcraftservice. I was able to see the J2534 Pass-thru Device in the list. There is a VCI manager app that you will need load to connect for it to be recognized.
It’s finally working!
As far as the VCX NANO is concerned, it works. The cracked version of IDS that comes with it might not work with the newer vehicles, but if you purchase a license from motorcraftservice and download FJDS, you can use the malware of a “driver” that is included with it to connect to your vehicle.
It diagnosed an F-150 2019 yesterday. Today we have 2008 ford focus. The ABS module was replaced and is required to be programmed.

Go to Free Resources- Quick Guide- Module Build Data (As-built)
IDS showed me the VIN number

The ELM327 mode it emulates an OBD Solutions STN1170 v3.3.1 ELM interface and does a poor job of it!
To download the SVCI Ford/Mazda IDS software and or drivers, you must create an account on the manufactures site. Once you do login to the manufactures site, you then need approval to download software and or drivers! vxdiag IDS released frequently software update, download software via mega links directly.
SVCI j2534 is less stable than vxdiag when performing online programming. Some have reported crashed issue during module programming.
vcx nano is cheaper than svci.
For ecu programming purposes, better go for vcx nano instead of svci.
I purchased a VXDIAG VCX Nano for Ford and Mazda vehicles back in 2019, I must say that I was skeptical of the product but decided to give it a try.
After a week of use I was very impressed. I found the vx nano can be used as a J2534 Pass-Thru device.
It does get recognized by the OEM J2534 software so i am going to show you two programs that i used one for Nissan and one for Kia.
I have plugged it over here and it is plugged into the usb.
We’ll go over to Nissan (Nissan J2534 ECU Reprogramming Software)
i also have the FJDS bt that one you need a license.
with the Nissan we can actually get through it.
when you download the vx manager basically it shows up as a j2534
We select VXDIAG device
we will go next and then it read it as a j2534 passthru device as you see right here supplier allscanner
We don’t have a Nissan to test. But the vcx nano ford device can be recognized by the Nissan program.
We also tested it on Kia program
Run J2534 KMA program
the program require to enable network connection
check the power switch and cable connection of the passthru device
select VXDIAG-J2534
initialization of passthru device
We do have a Kia car for test.
