Cobalt Clutch Relearn by VXDIAG VCX NANO GM

Question: Does the clutch switch wiring have a fuse that can be checked, I rigged up a push button start but I still would rather the key switch worked.

Suggestion:

You need to relearn the switch. It’s a quick process, but needs the Tech2 software, or the VXDiag VCX Nano GM.

1st suggestion.

On your car, it’s not actually a switch, it’s a potentiometer (variable resistor). Typically one side will be tied high, say 5V, and the other side tied to signal ground. And the middle, the wiper, connected to the input. If you are shorting things, it’s hard to tell for sure if you have damaged anything without knowing for sure what you did and how the PWB is designed. But it’s never a good idea to direct short anything without knowing for sure. Using a current limiting resistor to “short” might have been a safer bet.

My car does actually have a switch (07 SS/SC) so it hard for me to be able to test values and help you. If the TECH2 can read the values and they are within specs, that would tell you if it’s okay.

Otherwise, you could read the values of all three wires during the different clutch positions and post them and maybe someone with the same car can compare them to their known good values. That would tell us a lot.

2nd suggestion.

Have you ever been able to start with the key switch? I am assuming no, which might be the reason you went with the push button start jumper band-aid.

If you were able to start it with the key at one point, what changed that made it stop working, what prompted you to change the PCM? Are you just guessing this is a clutch switch issue or you know for sure?

I am concerned about your “shorted the clutch switch” not clear what you did. Hopefully there is no damage to any circuits.

you might need to relearn the switch with VXDIAG Nano.

The VXdiag is around $100 on vxdiagshop.com; it fully emulates a Tech2 and will allow you do a clutch relearn. It’s a pain in the ass to get set up but once its working, it’s great.

Finally Fixed!

We got it fixed, clutch relearn via vcx nano/tech2win and a bad relay.

Now I can use my key Ignition again instead of my push button start.

One more question: Is there an “learn” or adjustment for the throttle? Ours seems like either idle or 1200 and above. There is no way to slowing depress the throttle to ramp up from 800 RPM to 1200 RPM. Makes cruising slowly difficult.

Answer: I’m 99% sure I saw throttle position sensor on the screen when he was going through the programs.

To actually answer your question, yes there is an “idle learn reset”.

VXDIAG VCX NANO Tech2Win 2006 Corvette Radio VIN Relearn

Here is a quick guide on how to do a relearn on your radio if it is got a theft lock.  This radio i acquired did not come like this.

2006 Corvette Theftlock on Stereo VXDIAG Tech2Win 1

This is the original radio on my old 2006 Corvette so i wanted a little upgrade on it.

2006 Corvette Theftlock on Stereo VXDIAG Tech2Win 2

When i installed it said theft lock. I did some research that dealer wants almost $200 to do it VIN relearn.

So I’m here to show you a cheaper alternative way by getting this.  I bought this vxdiag vcx nano gm usb interface off vxdiagshop.com. It comes with the software on a USB Drive that the seller provided.

2006 Corvette Theftlock on Stereo VXDIAG Tech2Win 3

Worked out really good paid it a little more than a hundred dollars for it and you can do a lot more of the things in GM vehicles up to 2013 (Tech2win software).

I’ll show you real quick how to get into the software so this is tech2win it’s going to ask you where you’re at. Select North America click on ok yes.

2006 Corvette Theftlock on Stereo VXDIAG Tech2Win 5

I’m hooked up to my car now. This is an emulator that’s exactly what a tech2 would be if you had a handheld version of it.

We will go to Diagnostics- year 2006 – Passenger car- Chevrolet

This product line is the 4th digit on your VIN so mine is Y.

Scroll down to Y, press OK

2006 Corvette Theftlock on Stereo VXDIAG Tech2Win 8

The theft lock is in the body control module you have to go to Body scroll down until you see

Then select Navigation systems – Module setup- Navigation radio- VIN Relearn

Tech2win gonna ask you if you want to do it and you begin clearing it

Like I said this is a perfect little tool that can do all other things that a tech2win can do, purge out a solenoid or bleed the brakes on some GM vehicles.

VXDIAG GM SPS Techline Connect Crushes Issue

ACDelco has shut down the TIS2 access to SPS. It seems you have to go through Techline Connect now. People used it on the past gm SPS without problems. GM changed how they do thing and it’s a new application called Techline Connect.

Some had problems connecting vxdiag vcx nano gm with Techline Connect.
Here comes with the problem:
I’m struggling to get my VIN linked to my AC Delco subscription as well as get Techline Connect to see the VCX Nano on a 2014 Chevrolet Volt.
Whenever i select my vxdiag tool and try to move to another part of the application, the app shuts down.
i tried it works with limited functionality and new sps2 crashing continuously. SPS2 don’t work for programming.

Current solution:
1.Select device type as MDI2 and try again.
2. Customer tested working solution.
“I was able to get it to work. I uninstalled techline connect and java and everything related to the GM side and reinstalled with the VCX Nano software open. It was able to see the pass thru device.”

How to Fix GM Corvette C5 2000 Won't start with Tech2win

Car model and year: GM Corvette C5 2000

Symptom and what I tried to do:
I have narrowed it down to the Tdr not actuating, however when I test it there’s power to the solid yellow when the ignition key is turned and constant live on the thick red but it seems that the black and yellow is not being actuated inside the bcm to allow it to start.
If I ground the black and yellow by bypass, the car then starts and the Tdr clicks but the car immediately stops again.
I have checked the clutch safety switch which is ok, and the Security light goes out. Obviously, the fact that the car starts eliminates the battery, solenoid, starter and ground terminals which have been cleaned and greased.
According to the diagram of the circuit everything seems to be working normally except the bcm starter enable relay control.

Problem Analysis:

The body control module is grounding A9:C1 through splicepoint SP208 to the G104 in the engine room (below battery)

The splicepoint SP208 (shown in photo) is located above footwell (fusebox) on passenger side .

Someone has the problem with the TDR , the reason was a bad connection in the SP208 splicepoint. Due to this the BCM was not able to energize the TDR relay.

How to do next?

I’m starting to think that either I scrap my nice condition c5 or I invest in a knock off Tech 2 but I see conflicting opinions on the subject.

I have both a Tech2 clone from China and a VXDIAG VCX NANO for GM (also from china) and are running Tech2win software on my win 10 64 bit laptop .

The Tech2win has the same menues as the Tech2 clone , but you need to download and install some software from VXDIAG to install Tech2win on your laptop . Not hard to do .

Installation

I prefer running Tech 2 menus on a bigger laptop screen instead a smaller Tech2 scanner screen.

Tech2win is also cheaper than a Tech2clone

Another Possibility:

The ground is the C3 connector pin B7 on the BCM !!

VXDIAG VCX NANO Review on Isuzu 4jx1

April 30, 2021:

Just wondering if anyone has used the VXDIAG VCX NANO for GM/OPEL GDS2 Tech2WIN Diagnostic Tool on the Jackaroo 4xj1. From what I have heard it works with the 4jx1.

May 12 2021:

it arrived today but unable to get the tech2win to pull the data from the vcx nano.

Everything seems configured correctly however the only 4JX1 option i can find is under Opel – Monterey but says no communications with the vehicle.
I however see in the VXManager that the OBD2 is connected and its reading my car’s voltage.

May 13, 2021

Reinstalled following these instructions: http://www.vxdiagshop.com/service/how-to-install-vxdiag-vcx-nano-gm-tech2win-on-windows-10-6027.html

set it up ok on Windows 10.

and now its communicating with the engine. Using the opel bin you choose 1998 > Monterey > 4JX1.

Fun fun.

June 16, 2021:

I have been using this to check display data for a few weeks now. I was wondered if the injectors were enabled. Well it turns out that the GM>1999>Monterey>4jx1 3.0 (v6 engine is only other option) does not have the same parameters or the .bin file that is in question is outdated. It has oil rail pressure, crank , orpcv and more totaling to 43 parameters. No injector status though.

My mate has got the injector status on his program. I am looking for a .bin file of the isuzu Kline card .

June 25, 2021.:

I got the bin file of Isuzu Kline somewhere.  (attached below)

This is vastly different. I have injector status now.

Options entering the tech2 look more on par with screenshots I’ve seen online.

This is a cheap tech2 alternative now.

Here’s tip:

I open VX Manager, i use the reconnect and test device buttons to ensure its running and operating. I then plug it into the vehicle Obd2 port and proceed to open software shortcut: tech2win on the desktop.

You are able to select from a few different bin files.  Such as China1 China2 North-America and so on.

vxdiag-tech2win-isuzu-jackaroo-4xj1

Follow this way to get new bin listed:

Open the Tech2Win-Configurator, click ‘Create new…’. Enter a new name under ‘Please enter a new name’. Press ‘Copy’. Under ‘Slot 0: Memory card image location’ find the path to the downloaded BIN file. Click ‘Open’. Press ‘Save ###’.

When you next start the program your new configuration will be available to choose.

You get a popup prompt with two entries, i press enter to select the default option, then another popup which lists the usb device (another enter).

IS 11.710 32mb (1998-2011) .bin
