VCX SE pro 3 in 1 is recommended. Available car brands: GM FORD/MAZDA VW AUDI HONDA VOLVO TOYOTA JLR Subaru.

You can use them as a pass thru or you can use it for designated dealer software ford ids for example. With that one you can pick up to 3 to use as a dealer tool, doesn’t have dodge. It works great with fjds and sps2 etc programming as a j2534 box.

2013 Chevy Volt HPCM2 Programming with VXDIAG VCX NANO GM

Have a 2013 Chevy Volt in Reduced Propulsion Power state with P1E00 and P0AFA codes. These codes can not be cleared through an OBD2 reader (or even GDS2) but require dealer level reprogramming of the HPCM2 module.

Setting up the VXDIAG VCX Nano GM GDS2 on a Windows 10 Pro laptop wasn’t bad but not straight forward either. The VXDIAG program on the USB stick that’s included was corrupted. Downloaded the latest version from the vxdiagshop.com website and successfully installed GDS2. GDS2 allowed me to see the problem that one of the 96 battery cells was lower than the others (hence the P0AFA code).

To fix the P0AFA problem requires running SDS2 (a subscription from ACDelcoTDS.com is available for $40 for 24 months for one VIN). To run SPS2 requires installing ACDelco’s TechLine Connect (TLC). TLC is a monster (comes with the subscription). Make sure you have Windows 10 Pro and at least 8GB. TLC is the way dealers run GDS2, TECH2Win and SPS2. After two weeks of crashes inside TLC trying to run SPS2 I was finally able to reprogram the HPCM2 and bring my Volt back to life.

Here is the HPCM2 programming reference

Chevy Volt HPCM 2 Reprogramming with VXDIAG VCX NANO SPS

Bottom line it was a challenge getting things setup but the VCX Nano worked at a fraction of the cost. You could buy an official Bosch EL-52100-AM (GmToolsAndEquipment.com) for $790 but you’ll have to buy a subscription from AcDelco to run GDS2 or TECHWin. You’ll also still need a decent laptop.

I’ve been through this Reduced Propulsion Power issue before while under warranty. It took four times being towed into the dealer for them to finally decide it was a bad battery module which they replaced. Now the Volt is out of warranty and I’m on my own with dealing with this issue. I’ll probably be using VCX Nano often and so I had incentive to overcome the installation issues and get it to work.

VXDIAG or Mini VCI for Toyota Lexus Hybrid?

After reading this review,  I decided to get the vxdiag vcx nano Toyota WiFi cable. I received it and I configured it.

Now they are links to get GTS 17.00.020.

For information, the software (VCX Manager) works very well with Windows 7 64bit.

VX Manager 1.8.7

Firmware 1.9.1

I downloaded version 17 from Techstream.

Shortly before purchasing the VCX, I was sent a version from Techstream that was newer than the one I had.

The patch is valid until version 18 if I understood correctly.
I tried this patch with Techstream version 17 and it works.

I ran TIS on my Prius IV to do a health check, it reads 41 control modules.
I was able to do what I wanted, the Mini VCI I had didn't allow me to do it. As soon as it exceeds a certain number of units, I get an error message.
We have access to an incredible amount of data (particularly the hybrid part).
With the Mini VCI, it was limited.
With the VCX NANO, it works very well.

Another little test on the 2014 Lexus Rx 450h F Sport. That works well.

For each system there is a screen giving the possible fault codes, a screen giving the state of the system with the parameters then an "active test" screen.

For example, for the "air conditioning" system, I chose a simple command:

VXDIAG for Toyota Lexus Hybrid 1

For the air conditioning, there is an interesting function, which varies the maximum speed of the compressor (probably "Target Speed").

As regards the active tests of the hybrid system, they are to be used in a particular context.
The only ones that can be launched without any particular procedure (apart from the ventilation control) are the "Inspection Mode" (used for example for pollution control).

You can set to "ON" or "OFF" from the PC and see the status on the control screen:

VXDIAG for Toyota Lexus Hybrid 2

VXDIAG for Toyota Lexus Hybrid 3

The hybrid function is copious (6 pages)

VXDIAG for Toyota Lexus Hybrid 4

with interesting commands:

VXDIAG for Toyota Lexus Hybrid 5

and others that seem risky.

VXDIAG for Toyota Lexus Hybrid 6

I am really happy with this vxdiag vcx nano toyota techstream cable, and again a big thank you to all those who contributed.
