How to clear code P0AFA using VXDIAG VCX NANO GM GDS2?
Here is the user’s working expense:
“It is a 2013 GM Volt with a few bad cells. The cell voltage dropped below the threshold again to get the RPP error and locked out of charging. Torque pro app shows the fault code P1E00 and P0AFA. But it does not clear the codes. After trying a few tools without success, I finally decided to follow the suggestions here and purchased the VXDIAG VCX Nano GM from vxdiagshop.com along with the GDS2 software. The GDS2 software itself didn’t need to be purchased, as they provided a download link, but I did buy an online account separately.
For installing GDS2. First you have to install the GM MDI software. Then GDS2. Then VX Manager. At least that’s what worked for me.
How to clear code P0AFA?
Used Win10 laptop with VXDIAG VCX NANO code reader connected with USB cable.
Opened VXDIAG software, then diagnostics, then GDS2 software, it installed GDS2, then opened GDS2, next clicked find VIN, found the car, then followed instructions.
I checked to see if there were any other DTCs but did not see any. I turned the car of and it is currently charging.”
My advice to others trying to clear these codes is: Invest in the right tools and follow the step-by-step process. It saves you a lot of hassle and a trip to the dealer.
Volt running smoothly.
I strongly recommend purchasing directly from the official website (vxdiagshop.com), where you can get excellent customer support!
Also, there are relevant installation tutorials on the website, which might be helpful to you!
One of our customers reported that VXDIAG VCX SE PSA diagbox software 9.85 read the VIN on his 2020 Opel Grandland X European model, but could not proceed, diagbox software stuck after reading VIN. Images attached:
VXDIAG diagbox software does not support Opel Vehicles. If the Grandland X is 2020/2021 then is legacy Opel but not PSA models with Diagbox. Crossland X 2020/2021 is still on GDS2. GDS2 latest version 2024.05 does have Opel Grandland X/Crossland X 2020/2021 listed.
Also you open an account at PSA by yourself and buy a subscription and you will be able to install it without pay to someone else.
The Opel/Vauxhall coverage is up to 2018 when the Opel went to PSA.
So you need EU GDS2 that covers Opel up to 2021. GDS2 Global/NA has no Opel 2020 coverage.
To be much more clear. If you can do diagnostic in that car by GDS2 then you need to buy Legacy Opel SPS Programming subscription but not Diagbox token.
To do SPS programming you will need an account ( public servicebox-parts.com
) and you have to buy an SPS Programming subscription.
You need Legacy Opel
subscription if you was able to use GDS2 in
that car.

It is recommended to install Passthru driver only when connecting vxdiag vcx nano gm and Techline Connect SPS2. Install GDS2, Tech2win on a separate laptop.
One of our customers find a way to use both Techline Connect and the free-to-use software on the same machine. Just for sharing purpose.
“On vx manager once you have the VXDIAG VCX Nano GM firmware updated, and clicked the license to get that installed, Need to install the Cracked Tech2win, to be able to load the VX manager passthrou, GDS2/T2W/ SGM RDS apps.
If the game plan is to just run TDS software from the start, then only load the above.
When you install the TDS SPS software, it will over right the Cracked GM MDI software in window, and the first time you use SPS, going to get the pop up for Tech2win. MDI, and J2534 drivers, so download and install them as well.
This should have everything ready for TDS SPS software, as well as the needed driver loaded as well. Hence pass through in VX manager gets that ready for the SPS wrapper, and the needed driver part for the laptop for sps, is the SGM RDS driver apps.
Note here, can go into windows uninstall and delete the cracked GM MDI software, before you install the TDS software.
Now when you are done with TDS, and want to go back to the cracked programs,
need to go into windows uninstall, and delete all the GM software that TDS over
wrote with that software, and reinstall the cracked version again
So
uninstall in windows,
GM MDI software
Tech2win
Now reinstall the cracked Tech2win (which will install its cracked version of
GM MDI software as well), go back and check VX manager, then delete and re
install the VX manager apps in VX, passthrou, GDS2/T2w/ SGM RDS.
If you have
cracked GDS2 installed, then delete it and Java in windows uninstall, then
reinstall cracked GDS2 as well.
Hence the cracked software is for the VCX Nano so you don’t have to pay for it from TDS since it is covered under the VX licensees in a gray area kind of way, and the TDS software versions overrides the cracked software back to normal, so you would have to pay to use it instead.
Yes, it’s kind of clunky this way, but it is the cheapest game in town to be able to use both TDS and the free-to-use software, on the same machine.
Since if you don’t want to have to play the back and forth game, then load up a machine to use the cracked software, then on your every day machine, can load just enough for TDS in VX manager, install the software TDS software use if for TDS.
Note on TDS, although the subscription is for 24 months, it really not that,
but being able to flash each module on the car ocne, for the 24 months.
I
bring this up, since if you have a bad BCM module, get another bad BCM module
that you try to use TDS to flash it, will need to buy another subscription for
TDS most of the time to flash in anther BCM to the Vin that the subscription is
on. Some times if you call TDS in a day or two of the first replacement module
flash, then may reset your account so you can reflash another replacement BCM,
but if your talking a few months of a second reflash, then your back to paying
another $45 again for the same vin.
Hence the reason that if possible, the
car is 2008 or older, prefer to just use TIS2000, which is unlimited in the the
amount of times you can (re) flash modules, and on as many vins as well.”
Problem:
One of our customers had a problem running vxdiag
vcx nano gm 2023.10 gds2 from patch. Error
"The item GDS2.exe that this
shortcut refers to has been changed or moved. Do you want to delete the
shortcut?"
Solution:
GDS2.exe was killed by the anti-virus program.
Disable anti-virus program, download GDS2 and install again.
Especially on Windows 10 system, need to disable Real-time protection.
Select Start and type "Windows Security" to search for that app. Select the Windows Security app from the search results, go to Virus & threat protection, and under Virus & threat protection settings select Manage settings. Switch Real-time protection to Off. Note that scheduled scans will continue to run.
Problem:
Tried to scan an Opel Corsa F 2022 (VIN: VXKUHZKXZN4121553 ) with vxdiag vcx nano gm GDS2 software. GDS2 detects it as an Opel mokka 2018. It is wrong.
When trying a manual selection, no vehicle can be found. My universal scanner does see it. Any clue?
Solution:
The diagnosis of the new Opel Corsa F must be done with the Diagbox software, because the new version of the Opel Corsa F is based on the Peugeot 208.
Aslo other new Opel car models such as Mokka,
Crossland, New Astra, New Grandland,
Combo life, Combo Cargo, Zafira Vivaro Life, Vivaro, Movano
etc.
should be done via diagbox.
Purchase VXDIAG PSA diagbox device instead.
