VXDIAG VCX NANO Toyota vs Mongoose Pro

How to choose a Toyota diagnostic system?

There are three types of diagnostic tools for a car

- At the dealer for money
- Using cheap connectors like ELM327
- Copies of dealer cables + crack dealer program

Option 1 is used as a last resort (and even then the qualifications of the OD diagnostician do not always meet expectations)

Option 2 is rejected because although the device shows errors and even resets them, but still for different brands of cars there are errors and their own decoding and a bunch of things.

Option 3 is the most convenient to have on hand.

Let's dwell on option 3.

You need to have a desire, a bit straight arms, a card with money, the ability to competently use search queries via the Internet and a laptop

Program:
For TOYOTA-LEXUS there is a diagnostic software- Toyota TechStream

Since we have Toyota, we find Toyota TechStream crack on the Internet, there are crack ones without an activation key.

And the cable itself. Native Mongoose cable costs about 500 $, which is expensive for home use. Therefore, after reading a bunch of forums, I found for myself VXDIAG VCX NANO for TOYOTA for more than 80.
https://www.vxdiagshop.com/wholesale/vxdiag-vcx-nano-for-toyota-compatible-with-sae-j2534.html

Having installed the program, activated it, installed the drivers for the interface, and made the first launch of the program. Surprisingly, the program started without errors, even recognized the string. Easily hooked up to my car.

Showed me any errors and cleared them. And even (having an Internet connection) told me that for my ECU there is a new firmware (calibration) (which needs to be downloaded and installed).

To download the calibration, you must have access to the Toyota website techinfo.toyota.com

Americans, they are great, they sell access to calibrations for 50 in 2 days, during these 2 days you can independently flash a whole unit of Lexus and Toyota.

You can read about the program itself, its functionality and capabilities, by googling a little.

Below is a screenshot of the program on my machine, with errors and a suggestion to flash it.

I will flash it myself after I fix the fuel system. It is great for the money.

What is the Best Cable for Toyota Techstream subscription?

Purpose: program a new credit card key for 18 Toyota LX, plan to sign up for a subscription on Toyota’s website and access to Techstream.

My question is: Any recommendations for a high quality cable to use with Techstream subscription?

Recommendation:

VXDIAG VCX NANO for TOYOTA TIS Techstream V16.20.023 works great as I and others have confirmed:

vxdiag-cable-toyota-techstream-subscription

The cable I recommended above comes with a hacked copy of techstream. Programs keys, tpms, etc. no problem….

I run Techstream on a Microsoft Surface tablet and 64-bit Win 10 operating system.

And to be clear, the TIS referenced length of subscriptions is access to the online factory service manual. It does not come with Techstream or the OBDII to computer cable.

Question: What happens to Techstream Lite once the first year is up? Need to renew every year or do you ”own” it after the initial purchase?

It has to be renewed. That is the big advantage of the “alternate” method. They seem to have broken the time limit. The advantage of the “official” method is that it is supposed to run faster.

One more caveat not germane to 2021 or earlier Toyota/Lexus products. Toyota says that future models will not run using the existing computer cables – their product up until (?? Date), or the existing aftermarket versions. My sources imply the future version of Techstream cable connection (in the USA) is being outsourced exclusively through Snap-On Tools (Usually means $$$$). Probably something to do with the new EV models coming out.

Finally! Update

I ordered VXDIAG VCX NANO for TOYOTA TIS Techstream.

and it installed easily and connected to my 18 LX first try. Wanted to have a Windows laptop so got a NOS from a couple of years ago, the Surface Book 2.

It’s amazing what Techstream can do (duh uh – what took me so long?) and that’s after only scratching the surface as they say. Programming my credit card key was simple but getting to the correct screen was a chore for me, however. After watching some videos and giving up on trying to find “Immobilizer“ or “Smart Key”, I noticed the “Entry&Start” on the System Selection Menu so tried that. Yup, Key Registration shows up and it’s a breeze from there.

Enough for now but I’ll definitely be looking at more quite soon.

Good to know:

When I installed the software that came w the cx cable it had essentially unlimited days. I’d reach out to them, they may have a different solution.
Or install this and the patch:

Try installing the patch with antivirus off. Then open the patch executable file also w antivirus off.

And be noted too: it is needed to run Toyota Launcher instead of simply starting Techstream. So….success!

VXDIAG VCX NANO Review on K-line Lexus

First comes with a review on vxdiag vcx nano Toyota techstream.

“I was able to test it on a 2008 Lexus RX350 and it worked perfectly, instantly communicated with the car and all functions worked. A little disappointing I can’t use the Nano with the LS430. The LS430 is a K line using the ISO 9141 protocol.  I wanted to use the Nano because it has a much higher refresh rate for live data monitoring. The Mini VCI cable is too slow, it has a refresh rate of around 8-10 seconds and that doesn’t work for live data.”

We had some other customer reported that vcx nano failed to test on some 2002 2003 Toyota with K-line protocol. The only cable that work fine with old K-line was the mini vci j2534 from Xhorse (firmware 2.0.4). but the cable is discontinued. The Mini vci clone also has bugs in K-line Toyota.

VXDIAG vcx nano works better on 2005 up Toyota models.

Supported Communication Protocols:

  • SAE J1850 PWM
  • SAE J1850 VPW
  • CAN 2.0B ISO 11898
  • CAN ISO 15765-4
  • Partial K-Line Support
