VXDIAG VCX SE ISTA+ Failed to Program BMW Fxx KL15 KL30?

Problem

Today I tried to see if I can program X1 F48 with the vxdiag vcx se BMW dongle (software ista 4.39.20) and have the following error every time (fault ICOM connection).

All error reading, correct id KL15 and KL30 but same error.

Solution:

VXDIAG BMW ISTA+ does not support F/G/I series programming/coding, it can be done via E-sys engineering software.

For E series use INPA and WinKFP.

VXDIAG VCX SE Cannot Read VIN for 1999 BMW?

Problem:

I got the vxdiag vcx se bmw scanner working with the ISTA+ 4.35.20. It failed to read VIN, and manual input also failed. No communication with a 1999 BMW model.

Here is the clue.

VXDIAG VCX BMW cannot do vehicles that old especially K-line models.

It works better on 2005 onwards BMW. Same as other brands.

Can I Transfer VXDIAG VCX SE License to VCX FD?

Question:

Can I transfer all my licenses from VXDIAG VCX SE to this new VCX FD VCI and can I buy this VCI without any licenses?

You are allowed to transfer license from vcx se to vcx FD vci. But have to wait 6 months.

Currently, only Ford/Mazda and GM software are integrated into the VCX FD.

VXDIAG engineers are working on it.
When they integrate all software licenses to the VCX FD interface, you can transfer license by providing serial number of both VCX SE and VCX FD.

How to use VXDIAG VCX SE Passthru with PIWIS3 VMware?

Question: Can i use VXDIAG VCX SE J2534 as a passthru device for Porsche PIWIS III software? What firmware version do i need?

Answer: Yes, many tested working no issue.

Here is a modified Porsche PIWIS 3 V38.500 vmware software for Passthru devices.

and passthru settings files for vas6154 clone, vxdiag vcx se, vas5054, maxiflash vci, avdi etc.

(You need to install drivers according to firmware).

Just load this on VMware Workstation Pro and launch Piwis3. Connect your VCX SE (or other VCI) and you should see the usb connection on bottom left of the screen.

To verify connection with VXDIAG VCX SE:

1. Navigate to D:\PiwisApps\VCI\Actia_64\XS_D_PDU_API_64 and run ACTIA_D-PDU_API_Tester.exe
2. Module Name and Resource drop downs should be populated if VXDIAG is detected.
3. Hit Start to run all tests — All tests should succeed.

NOTE:

If using vas6154 clone, must have firmware 1.6.0 or 1.6.6. Newer firmwares will NOT work. If you have 1.6.0 device then you need to set the VM date to before 2020 and then PIWIS will work. 1.6.6 does not need to change the date.

If use vxdiag vcx se, you can update the firmware to latest version but needs to patch or buy VAG license from vxdiagshop (or use VXDIAG VCX SE 6154 with VAG license in default).
