Tried changing time back to 2022.1.11, no luck. Any idea?
Solution:
Change computer date/time to 08/2022.
Then run Subaru fix patch here

How to initiate Subaru Forester CVT learning mode with SSM4? Check instruction below:
2014-2018 Subaru Forester CVT Learning Control with SSM4
Learning Control
A: GENERAL
DESCRIPTION
• Follow the messages displayed
on the Subaru Select Monitor when working.
• When the
following work is performed, perform learning work for the
transmission.
Replacement of TCM/Replacement or disassembly of transmission assembly/Replacement of control valve body/Clearing AT leaning value is executed.
B: PROCEDURE
1. PREPARATION FOR
LEARNING
1) Warm up
or cool down until the ATF temperature displayed on the Subaru Select Monitor is
40 — 65°C (104 — 149°F).
2) After stopping the vehicle,
shift the select lever to "P" range.
3) Fully apply the parking brake.
4) Lift up the
vehicle.
CAUTION:
While working, be sure to keep the lower edge of the tires 30 cm or more
above the ground as vehicle will
vibrate.
5) Connect
the Subaru Select Monitor scanner (vxdiag
vcx se subaru or openport) to data link connector.
6) Turn the ignition switch to
ON.
7) Turn off all
switches causing an electrical load, such as headlights, A/C, seat heater and
rear defogger, etc.
8) Set SI-DRIVE to I mode.
(Vehicles with SI drive)
2. SIMPLE
LEARNING
NOTE:
Simple
learning is performed with the vehicle lifted, without actually running the
vehicle.
CAUTION:
Do
not turn the power of the Subaru Select Monitor OFF during work, and do not
disconnect the data link
connector.
1) Select
{Work Support} in the «Transmission Diagnosis» display screen of the Subaru
Select Monitor.
2)
Select {Compulsory learning mode} in the «Work Support» display screen of the
Subaru Select Monitor.
3) Follow the messages displayed on the Subaru Select Monitor screen
when working.
NOTE:
During
AT learning in progress, AT OIL TEMP light in the combination meter starts
flashing at 2 Hz and the learning
operation starts. The following message is displayed on the screen when the AT
OIL TEMP light which was flashing at 2 Hz
turns off.
4) When «AT learning normally ended.» is
displayed, simple AT learning is completed.
NOTE:
• If
communication error occurs during learning, retry the "AT learning mode" from
the beginning.
• If the message «Execute AT
learning again after fixing troubles of the vehicle» appears during learning,
select [OK] and display the DTC list.
After repairing the locations indicated by the DTC, start the "AT learning
mode" over from the beginning.
• When communication error occurs during learning,
select lever does not shift occasionally. If select lever does not shift, turn the ignition switch to OFF before
operating the select lever.
• If the message «AT learning
ended abnormally.» is displayed, start the "AT learning mode" over from the
beginning.
For detailed operation procedures, refer to Subaru Select Monitor software.
It is a Subaru Forester 2.0 Diesel (SHJ) 2009. The customer got the vxdiag subaru diagnostic box on this car. The cheap ssm cable works till 2009. This time he decided to take a chance and ordered a diagnostic box from VXDIAG Subaru V2022.01, Wi-Fi, for SUBARU SSM-III, 4. It works with Subaru Select Monitor 3.4 (SSM3, SSM4). This is the software that Subaru Dealer uses. You can read errors, flash, and most importantly, regen the DPF filter (relevant for those who have diesel versions).
And now for the mistakes. Errors on the CAN bus. Apparently, there is a problem which need to figure out later.
Now, the most important part. DPF regeneration!
The car flew like a rocket.
Which obd2 diagnostic scanner to link up with your Subaru SJ Forester's? For example a 2015 2.5i-L CVT. Check which scanner will do maintenance and access their ECU/TCUs.
Autel MK808:
When I got it, it couldn't do any DPF
functions whatsoever. It still can't scan and detect my VIN, nor can it reset
the service/oil dilution. So essentially, its an expensive battery, that I take
out and charge every now and again.
Another trap. The Software and support
licence runs out. So "no soup for you".
$600 is a lot to pay, if its just for
your car. You could probably buy a new DPF for that, or three cordierite
ones.
Autel AP200:
Now I gave Autel ap200 i think its called.
Also promises to do everything. I have tried to do injector learning an to my
surprise it worked. The app kinda crashed, but function was completed
successfully. There is also a bug, i think, where before the function it asks if
i have replaced an injector and two options -ok and cancel. Cancel does what you
expect it to do, but pressing ok, it clears out "distance since injector
replaced" and performs injector learning procedure. So it kinda works. On DPF
regen function there is also a question – if i have replaced my dpf and also ok
and cancel. Haven't tried to go further.
Launch X431 CRP429
I have tried Launch crp479 ($300) that
promised to do everything on subaru. But it didn't. I did all updates, but still
no luck.
Openport:
SSM4 starts up fine, I enter my VIN, however there appears to be no connectivity from the OBD port, no readings, no signal, nothing. After some research, it works.
It is good for re-flashing but does not communicate with the OEM software.
VXDIAG
Subaru SSM3/SSM4
From vxdiagshop.com for $250 you can get
VXdiag, which is the only aftermarket tool that supports dealer diagnosic
software SSM3. I go with that. Supposedly this works with the upto the 09
models. This would be awesome if it does.
I got the VXDIAG Subaru. It works fine with the SSMIII software included although there's limited modules you can access on old 2004 FSTI (it's K-Line which is pre-canbus), i've added transponders to the immobiliser and general engine ECU logging and fault clearing. Should be a much more useful tool on the later full canbus cars.
In summary:
For one cheap Cable /Interface, you can try TACTRIX OpenPort J2534.
Professional Jobs check the VXDIAG SUBARU Diagnostic Tool that works SSM3 and SSM4 till 2020 Year.
Q: I am trying to program a 2021 Subaru Outback XT key and from what I understand only ssm4 can do it as I tried with im608 and obdstar x300 and neither are able to do it. I was wondering if anyone is able to program key to this model using vxdiag subaru ssm4?
A: Yes, you are able to program key to 2021 Outback with our Subaru SSM4 scanner.
An 8-digit "Authentication Key" supplied by SBR will be a required input when working with SSM4. Unlike the previous system where Teaching Codes have been unchanged, the new Authentication Key will change approximately every 6 months. The new vehicles utilize an Immobilizer Type "G" or "H" system depending on model:
2021 needs a certified locksmith login. For 2020MY+ Legacy and Outback with a G or H -Type system, the Server Connection screen shown below will be displayed. Input the current Authentication Key and select "Connection".
As of June 30th, 2022, the Authentication Key has been revised to XFT7DWTH.
